SAVING RED BEAR
On our publisher sites, you will find a new adventure story for middle grade kids (8-12) about a 12-year-old boy named Alex and a black bear cub that he meets one day on a hike in the
mountains. By sheer coincidence, they run into each other several more times, each time saving the other from near tragedy. They become friends, the bear cub filling the vacant spot that the death of his dog left in Alex’s life. It is only after becoming good friends that Alex realizes he must give up the closeness they have built, to save the bear’s life.
Friendship between humans and wild animals is unusual but not unheard of. Reports of friendships between dogs and elephants, goats and horses, turtles and geese are now becoming more common. Some of these are described, with website addresses given at the back of the book.
While this story is fiction, as our planet gets more crowded, we will need to take a new look at our relationships with animals of all types so that we can live together harmoniously in the same habitat.
YOUR NEW JOB AND HOW TO GET IT!
Advice and Coaching from an Employer
This book focuses on three important steps that will increase your likelihood of gaining employment. Be sure to understand why they are important, don’t just read them. Try to put yourself in the chair of the employer to help determine what he or she needs.
They are not just offering a job, they need help. To do this you need to learn about the company or agency. A banker once told me that he would always ask any person seeking employment at his bank, “How many branches do we have?” Most did not know. One person guessed the correct number which was eight. Guess who immediately went to the top of the list of potential hirees?
The employment situation today is chaotic to say the least. AI is the latest onslaught which may be bigger or smaller than everyone thought two months ago. But there are other issues that are changing the market for new employees such as the war in Iran, the national economy, political impacts, and serious changes taking place in many large industries themselves. For example, newspapers are fighting for their lives, the farming industry is losing owners, workers and established profits and shopping is moving more and more online.
In spite of these setbacks, organizations and employers need help and this book offers many good ideas to assist job-seekers in their pursuit of a job. A test is offered to help determine what types of jobs are most likely to be of interest to the new employee—and ways to get that very important interview, plus some brilliant strategies if all else fails. Be sure to purchase the book to learn of the most important trait any job-seeker must have.
THE 13TH IS FRIDAY, a short story
Does the number of the day of the month have anything to do with what will happen on that day? To some, the 13th is just another day. Others worry about the number and plan around it. When it occurs on a Friday, does that make it dangerous or unusual? A day that must be
carefully watched? Ask the elevator manufacturers who leave floor 13 off their elevator directory.
Wes, the main character in this short story, never thought much about the date. He was headed down to Monterey with his girlfriend to meet his brother and his girlfriend for a fun weekend at the end of the summer. It was something they had planned and were looking forward to until suddenly it was Friday The 13th!
